Obituary for William Truett Altman

Bill had a great life, full of family, church, friends, a loving marriage of 62 years, 2 children, 1 grandchild, and successful career in both engineering and business.

He grew up in rural South Carolina and attended high school with a graduating class of 12 students then he attended Clemson University for his freshman year and transferred to Georgia Tech in Atlanta. There he worked as a co-op student at Lockheed to help pay his way through college. He met and married Doris and graduated with a degree in Engineering.

After their daughter Cindy was born, the family moved to California and Bill served in the Air Force at Travis Air Force Base where their son Brent was born. After the Air Force Bill began at Lockheed Missiles & Space Corporation in Sunnyvale as an aerospace engineer and worked there in varying positions until his retirement. During that time Bill attended San Jose State University and graduated with a Masters degree in Business.

The family attended Santa Clara First Baptist Church for many years followed by Twin Lakes Church in Aptos, both in California.

Bill was blessed with a granddaughter, Alesha, born to Cindy and son-in-law David.

Bill and Doris also had a tax preparation business for almost 40 years that they retired from when they moved to Reno, Nevada. There they selected Life Church as their new spiritual home.

Bill will be missed very much as he was a humble man of many talents who very much appreciated and loved his family, his communities, and church life. His spirit lives on in all of us.

Any donation in memory of Bill can be sent to Life Church (Building Fund), P.O. Box 18711, Reno, NV 89511
